Seigetsu zan Unrin Zenji Temple

A Buddhist temple with innumerable cats.
Culture YAMAGUCHI

There are cats everywhere from the main gate to the precinct, and there are two reasons why there are so many. One is that the monk wants to pass down the story of “The Loyal Cat” which originated at the head temple (Tenju-in Temple also in Hagi). The second is that after thirty beckoning cats were given to him as a memento by an acquaintance, he has been given more and more cats as gifts. Besides which, the monk also collects them.
