Tokoji Temple

The temple has a graveyard of the Mori Family, the feudal lords of the area.

The temple of Obaku school of Zen sect Buddhism was founded by Yoshinari Mori, the third feudal lord in 1691.

In the graveyard, the lords of odd number generations; more precisely from the third to eleventh, their wives and the people who were closely related to the lords were buried. The sight of more than 500 stone lanterns standing solemnly in front of the gravestones is spectacular.

The main gate, the inner gate, the belfry, and the main hall are designated as national important cultural assets, which remind the visitors of the historical value of the temple. It is also famous for marvelous colored leaves.
