Artists create bas-reliefs with animals and plants on plastered walls through the process known as kote-e. 24 of the 48 homes in Mitsu are decorated with kote-e. It is rare to have such a high number of kote-e in one area. The master craftsmanship, handed down from the Edo period, is apparent in each and every one of these fine works of art.
