Activity HIROSHIMA

Sandankyo Gorge, one of the most famous gorges in Japan, is nestled inside the Nishi Chugoku Mountains
National Park. Throughout the hiking season, which stretches from spring to autumn, visitors can hike the
gorge and enjoy its breathtaking natural scenery.
The 16km long gorge was designated as a “Special Place of Scenic Beauty” by the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs. Most of its natural landscape is in pristine condition and the hiking trails were designed so as not to disturb the natural ecosystem. Sandankyo Gorge offers a wide range of walking routes from simple walks for beginners to full day trails for advanced hikers. At Kurobuchi and Sarutobi , board the small ferryboats for jaw dropping views of cliffs and old growth forests from the water. Sandankyo is the place to come if you want to immerse yourself in nature. Plus, it is only a 75minute bus ride away from central Hiroshima.
